You know it will come. Know for a long time. Yet, when it does, when your eyes meet for the very last time, when you perceive the last breath, see the body relax, when all life is gone, you feel as if purpose has gone with it.

You feel numb.

Losing a pet is never easy. Losing one that has been very special to you can be as painful as it can be life changing.

Letting go was - is - the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, unbearably difficult. He was my friend. A friend I will never forget. This is his story. I have recorded it, wrote down my experiences, thoughts, my feelings. It has helped me. It may help you.
